Our performance-driven solutions for radiology, ultrasound, and laboratory diagnostic technologies provide effective ways to assist in the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of diseases.
Diagnostics for a better life
A reliable and accurate diagnosis is necessary in order to select the proper treatment options for patients. Advanced diagnostic technologies help doctors detect diseases earlier, while laboratory diagnostics services help to improve workflow and efficiency – and this in turn can help save lives. Siemens offers a broad portfolio of diagnostic solutions like ultrasound and radiology equipment that provide more effective ways to assist in the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of disease. Our medical equipment and services offer the right balance of science, technology, and practicality to provide medical professionals and hospital staff with the vital information they need to deliver better, more personalized healthcare to patients around the globe.
Siemens broad spectrum of immunoassay, chemistry, hematology, molecular, urinalysis, and blood gas testing systems, in conjunction with automation, informatics and services, can serve the needs of laboratories of any size – today and tomorrow.
Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics is a global leader in in vitro diagnostics, providing healthcare professionals in hospital, reference, and physician office laboratories and point-of-care settings with the vital information required to accurately diagnose, treat, and monitor patients.
Radiologists use an array of imaging technologies to diagnose and treat diseases. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of these radiology techniques. The noninvasive procedure renders internal structures of the body in detail. MRI provides good contrast between the different soft tissues of the body – a characteristic that makes this diagnostic technique especially suitable for cardiology and to detect and treat cancer.
In Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Siemens Healthcare provided Aga Khan Health Services with a MAGNETOM Avanto 18-channel TIM MRI. The installation was completed in just 13 days, and the MRI department is now able to provide quality diagnostics and treatment services.
In Kenya, Siemens Healthcare supplied the Cancer Care Centre in Nairobi with a high-end Linacs that included a CT Simulator and a complete treatment planning system. This diagnostic technology serves the community of East and Central Africa. Siemens also provided full project support, from the planning and construction of the site to the delivery and installation.
Because detection is key to medical treatment and prevention efforts, Siemens is dedicated to the development of reliable, high-quality testing for HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases. Siemens’ molecular testing systems allow healthcare professionals to detect major infectious diseases to select targeted, individualized treatment options, and to monitor the treatment efficacy.
According to the UN AIDS report, Africa currently has 22.5 million HIV-infected people – accounting for 60 percent of all HIV cases. Early identification of HIV-positive individuals along with viral load monitoring and resistance testing can improve patient outcomes and reduce disease transmission. Laboratory testing is key at every stage of the HIV care continuum and provides clinicians with the tools they need to manage patients more effectively. ADVIA Centaur® Immunoassay Systems and VERSANT® Molecular Systems are examples of available Siemens laboratory solutions for HIV testing.
