The costs of repairing industrial automation components and the long lead times associated with fully imported products has long been a thing of the past, with the Industry Sector of Siemens Southern Africa providing a comprehensive industrial repair service together with established logistics processes locally on Siemens electrical and electronic components.
From three repairs workshops in Midrand or carried out on-site, the Siemens team of 40 qualified and highly skilled engineers and technicians with over 30 years experience aim to restore full functionality to Siemens products sent in for repair as quickly as possible during and after the warranty period.
“The objective is to optimise a customer’s product repairs process by assigning us the technical and logistical management responsibilities,” says ………………….
Core services supplied to customers in the mining, metals, pulp and paper, cement, water, marine and infrastructure and industries include standard in-house repairs, emergency repairs, turnaround repairs and repairs on-site, all using certified components, test equipment and test and repair procedures, with worldwide access to spare parts and a limited warranty as standard on all repairs.
“In-house repairs are performed within 14 days depending on spares availability, while emergency repairs are done within 48 hours excluding delivery and collection,” he says. “Turnaround repairs include the collection of defective equipment, repair and return to the customer, while repair on site encompasses the repair of defective equipment at the customer’s premises by mobile service technicians.”
Siemens products are repaired in compliance with the technical data of the products in question and in accordance with different degrees of urgency, in Siemens-certified repair centres in Midrand using the company’s own qualified technicians and engineers.
“We specialise in products involving industrial automation, AC and DC Variable Speed Drives and Electro Mechanical Equipment including Motor Control Centres and Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Switch Gear,” he concludes.
