The threat posed to our employees and the activities of our organisation by the HIV/Aids pandemic has resulted in the introduction of an HIV/Aids programme that, as part of our long term sustainability goals, aims to reduce the risk of this disease to our staff, suppliers and customers through prevention.
The programme also provides support for those already affected by the disease, and includes a 24-hour access advisory helpline, the provision of anti-retroviral drugs, revisions to employee benefits, as well as forward planning to gauge the potential effect of the disease on absenteeism and productivity.
The programme creates awareness of the disease, and offers advice and counselling to employees. As evidence of the success of the programme, prevalence studies indicate a low infection rate and low infection growth rate amongst our staff.
